You Can Develop Good Abs Too

Everyone would love to develop a nice set of good abs. Of course, wanting to develop good abs is not the same as being able to actually develop them! In all seriousness, the abdominal muscles are not always easy to define since the stomach is a main region where we store fat. So, it becomes necessary to get one's body fat percentage down low in order to make the abdominal muscles visible.

A Sample Workout

While this is not the only workout to help develop the abdominal muscles, it is one of the most effective in terms of offering an illustrative example. Here it is:

  • 5 Day Workout Plan
  • 30 Minutes of Cardio on an Elliptical Trainer or Stair Climber or Exercise Bike
  • 20 Minutes of Abdominal Exercises

Or

  • 10 Minutes of Intensity Interval Training on an Elliptical Trainer or Stair Climber or Exercise Bike
  • 40 Minutes of Abdominal Exercises

The reason the elliptical trainer, stair climber, or exercise bike are selected is because they will work the ab regions due to their range of motion. Consider them helpful in terms of providing secondary stress to develop good abs.

The high intensity interval training approach is recommended because it can aid in melting off fat rather quickly. Consider that a major positive if you wish to develop a ripped and defined look. Again, you need to get your body fat percentage down low. Personally, I have experienced tremendous results from high intensity interval training but it remains one of the hardest types of workouts to take part in - bar none!

Exercises for Good Abs

I have my own personal favorite ab exercises and they include sit ups, crunches, leg raises, and hanging leg raises. Side bends and twists can also prove to be quite helpful and effective as well which is why they are also recommended.

Keep in mind, they in which the exercises are performed will play a role in how successful your overall workout strategy will be. As with the cardio work, high intensity training can lead to excellent results. However, it can also lead to injuries or burn out when not performed in the proper manner. You need to use your head when performing your ab exercises or else the process will falter.

In general, you need to perform a lot of ab exercises in terms of reps. This is because the abdominal muscles are notoriously resistant to stimulus. That is due to the fact the ab muscles are constantly contracting throughout the day and evening. So, high amounts of reps are needed to develop good abs. Just don't try to start out with high reps because this will lead to burnout and/or injury. Slowly work the amount of reps you perform over time.

And never lose sight of maintaining a quality low calorie diet. You do not want to amass a large amount of body fat when looking to present ripped abs. You need to keep your weight down and a good diet will help in this regard.
