The Diet Breakfast Connection

I have been told many times that the best and most important meal of the day is breakfast. I wish I had taken the advice sooner since eating the right breakfast can actually improve your chances of developing a "ripped" physique.

The notion that diet breakfast importance is not an old myth. It is rooted in sound logic and science which is why it has been so often repeated through the years. However, do not assume that you can eat anything and get the benefit out of your diet breakfast plan.

All of those processed, sugary cereals have been a diet staple for decades and they are still pretty awful! No, you want to eat a better and more well balanced diet. This would be a far better plan for those looking to lose weight, stay in shape, and improve their overall health.

Why a Good Breakfast is Important

Listing all the prime benefits for eating a morning breakfast could take some time. First, when you eat breakfast in the morning, you are providing your body with the calorie boost that it needs in order to maintain proper energy levels throughout the day.

This is not something to be overlooked because if you start your day without much in terms of fuel, you will run out of energy within a relatively short period of time. And do you really want to feel sluggish in the middle of the day?

In the past, I would skip breakfast as a means of cutting back on my calorie intake. This turned out to be a huge mistake as the end result was a less than defined appearance which was probably the result of the metabolizing of my muscle mass.

Breakfast also kick starts your metabolism because it provides the food needed to get it moving. When you sleep for 8 hours, your metabolism starts to slow. Breakfast reminds the metabolism to get going once again. This is a good thing because a slow metabolism will lead to packing on excess weight.

Did you know that eating a decent breakfast can also aid in improving your mood? This ties into the aforementioned aspect of gaining an energy boost from breakfast. You will not just be getting a physical boost with a proper diet breakfast selection. You will be getting a mental boost as well. That helps get you ready for the day more than anything else.

Remember, the whole purpose of breakfast is to provide the initial boost of calories and nutrients to the human body as it awakens. Skipping breakfast would undermine the many positive benefits that breakfast is intended to deliver.

What to Eat

Of course, all of this raises questions regarding what would be considered the proper foods to eat for breakfast. Unfortunately, most people eat diet breakfast choices loaded in sugar and fat. Such foods are definitely not helpful. Instead, you need to eat quality breakfast foods that serve the body well as opposed to undermining what it needs to remain healthy.

Whole grain cereals and oatmeal are excellent food choices for breakfast. They are simple to prepare and are loaded with nutrients. Fruits are definitely a good breakfast choice as well for the same reasons. They are excellent sources of the vitamins and nutrients needed for the body.

For those that wish to have something a little healthier, eggs (particular egg whites) along with lean breakfast meats can make for a nice breakfast option.
