The Dangers of the Fastest Weight Loss Diets
Seeking the fastest weight loss strategy is nothing new. Expediency is what everyone looks for in their weight loss goals. That is why all those magazine covers in the supermarket promote the notion of "dropping 10lbs in a week".
Unfortunately, many of these diet plans are loaded with problems. A diet that seeks to burn off a great deal of fat in a short period of time can cause a number of problems. Namely, drastic reductions in calories often do not so much lead to losing weight as much as they put you in the unfortunate position of potentially suffering a life threatening situation.
Yes, some of the "fastest weight loss plans" truly are that dangerous. I learned this the hard way and want to share with you some helpful advice on how to avoid making some of the same mistakes I did.
Why Short Cutting Doesn't Work
My first crash diet experience entailed taking part in a diet with a significant calorie reduction. This process was an out and out disaster for me.
Here's why...
When you drastically cut the number of calories down to a ridiculously low level, your metabolism starts to shut down. The reason this occurs is because the human body assumes it is starving. As a result, it opts to save its stored fat?
So, what does it turn to for fuel? Basically, the human body will start to metabolize protein. That means your body will start to consume its own lean muscle mass instead of stored fat. Certainly, you do not want to find yourself in such a position because it is neither safe nor healthy.
The end result of this unwise fastest weight loss plan is also not a very physically appealing appearance. I tried such an approach one time in my "dieting career" and the results were awful. I ended up looking lean, sickly, and disproportioned.
Would you ever want to look like that? More than likely, you would want to avoid presenting such an appearance of yourself. And such problematic physical appearance issues will be combined with the severe health issues that can result as well.
The Serious Health Issues
One of the most important warnings I have learned is that your body is thrown completely out of balance when exploring the fastest weight loss plans. Many of the essential minerals the body needs to remain healthy would be denied to the body.
Obviously, the long term effects of such deficiencies can prove to be severe. That is why it is so necessary to properly eat a balanced diet with a safe amount of calories. To explore unsafe weight loss plans because they are (presumably) the fastest weight loss plans is simply not the wise option to explore.
At the worst case scenario, one could suffer from anorexia if calorie restriction is taken to the extreme. Anorexia is a physical and psychological condition where someone simply refuses to eat the proper amount of food. This disease was not very well known until the legendary singer Karen Carpenter died from it and her legacy has shed light on such a serious condition.
No, not all fastest weight loss diets turn into anorexia but many cases of anorexia did initially start out as severe calorie restricted diets.
Long Term Goals
Time will pass and that means a slow diet plan will eventually lead to the same results as a fast one. I learned this lesson the hard way after taking part in scores of fad diets that really did not help my cause in any way.
Actually, a slower and more deliberate process will probably lead to better results since it is rooted in logic as opposed to being rooted in an unwise commitment to shedding excess calories with little regard for the serious health issues that could derive.
